There are so many reasons why you may be considering counselling. You’ve tried speaking to friends and family – and found you can’t. You’ve read the self-help books and it hasn’t helped. Maybe, you’ve had some counselling from a therapist already and now need to pick up where you left off. You may feel stressed, overwhelmed, unable to even think straight, everything in a muddle. Or you may just be feeling a general dissatisfaction with how things are in your life. You’re aware that you want things to be different, but don’t know how to make that happen.

As an experienced therapist based in Petts Wood (close to Bromley and Orpington). I've worked with people experiencing difficulties such as anxiety or panic attacks, depression, bereavement, relationship issues or childhood trauma.

How counselling can help

Counselling is a talking therapy. It offers a way for you to explore the thoughts and feelings which you feel unable to share with anyone else. Potentially, it allows you to look at them in different and insightful ways leading to acceptance, forgiveness, healing and change in your life.

Change is just a step away. As Lao Tzu said, “Every journey begins with a single step”, and counselling enables you to see how and where you can take that step.

Am I the right counsellor for you?

I’m a qualified psychotherapist and counsellor in Petts Wood, near Bromley with over fifteen years’ experience. I work with individual adults on an open-ended basis, or for an agreed time period with a specific focus. I offer both short-term and long-term counselling and we work at your pace, helping you to come to a greater awareness of yourself.

At the heart of my therapy is a trusting, professional relationship and the opportunity for you to relax in a calm and supportive environment. Here, we can explore your concerns and work towards lasting change. At all times I aim to offer what is most appropriate for you (for more on this, see How I Work).

You lead the process

I offer both online (zoom) and face to face work, subject to government advice. I also work via the telephone although I find this works better if we have had some zoom or face to face sessions first.

Our first meeting allows you to see if you’re going to be comfortable enough to open up and talk with me as your counsellor. It also enables me to understand what your concerns are and how we might address them. It’s just the two of us, working together to help you find ways through to a better place.

Easy to reach

It’s easy to get to me.

My Petts Wood practice is near Orpington and close to Bromley. This counselling practice is accessible from many areas of South East London (see Contact Me).

It’s not easy to find the counsellor who is right for you. Sometimes it takes a few goes. It is important, however, that you choose someone you feel comfortable with – so please keep reading and hopefully, you’ll find all you need to know.

Here are answers to questions frequently asked by people considering counselling therapy. Alternatively, feel free to call or email me with questions, I aim to get back to you within one working day.

Be simple and always take the next step. You needn't see it in advance, but you can look back at it afterwards. There is no 'how' of life, one just does it.
